This very old town is mentioned in historical records nearly 2000 years ago. Located between Vadodara and Surat, it is about one hour from each place. In the 17th century, English and Dutch factories were established here. The nearby island of Kabirwad, in the Narmada River, features a gigantic Banyan tree, which covers a hectare.
